Using Effects and Virtual Backgrounds in the Socialive iOS App

Use the blur background effect or select an image as your virtual background when participating in a broadcast or when using the Recording Booth with the Socialive iOS app. This article provides instructions on how to use virtual backgrounds in the Socialive iOS app.

Prerequisites

Effects and Virtual Backgrounds are only supported on these devices:

  • iPhone 11 and above

  • iPhone SE (3rd Gen)

  • iPad Pro 3 (11")

  • iPad Pro 12.9" (4th Gen and above)

  • iPad Air (4th Gen and above)

  • iPad Mini (6th Gen)

  • iPad 8th Gen and above


Process

In the Green Room

  1. In the Green Room lobby or in the Green Room, tap the Settings button on the bottom-right corner.

  2. In the pop-up, tap Background. From here, you can:

    • Select the blur effect to blur your background.

    • Tap the + button and select an image from your camera roll to use as your virtual background.

You can change your virtual background settings at any time throughout the session. However, you'll need to set up your virtual background every time you join a session.


For Recording Booth on iOS

  1. In the Socialive app, go to the Record tab and select the option to Recording Booth.

  2. Tap the Settings button (The Ellipses) at the bottom of the screen.

  3. Tap on the Background icon:

  4. From here you can

    • Select the blur effect to blur your background.

    • Tap the + button and select an image from your camera roll to use as your virtual background.
