Prerequisites
Before streaming into a Microsoft Teams Townhall, your organization must have RTMP-In enabled by a Teams administrator
Creating a Town Hall Event in Teams
To create a town hall, navigate to the top +New Meeting button and select Townhall from the drop-down.
Add the event details, such as a title, date/time, description, and the right event access preference, then select Meeting Options from the top of the details panel.
From the Meeting Options, navigate to “Broadcast & Streaming” toggle on RTMP-In and hit Apply.
Then select Publish on the event details page and save the event to the calendar.
Adding the Event RTMP To Socialive for Streaming
When connecting your RTMP details to Socialive, navigate to the event on your calendar and double-click to open it.
Select Manage Event
Select Meeting Options.
Scroll to the bottom and copy the Server Ingest URL and Stream Key.
Then, navigate to your Socialive Session and enter the RTMP details within the destination panel using these steps.
Starting your Microsoft Teams Townhall
Before sending your Socialive Session live, you must begin the Teams Townhall. Navigate to the meeting and select Join.
Please note: Having another organizer manage the town hall event in teams is essential, as the audio interference will make it difficult for producers to actively manage both Socialive and Teams.
Once video and audio options have been selected, select Join Now to launch the town hall management panel.
Now it’s time to select Start in Socialive to begin livestreaming
Streaming to teams has an approximately 30-second delay
It is strongly recommended to use a start card to avoid sending any guests live unexpectedly
High definition (720p) should be selected from the options panel within Studio to ensure smooth video playback within Teams.
Once the stream has been started, your Teams organizer will see the stream appear in the “Off Screen” section of the admin panel.
Right-click the Custom RTMP source and select Bring on Screen, then Select Start Meeting at the top right of the screen to begin the meeting.
Now, every scene that your Socialive producer will be streamed directly to your audience within the Teams TownHall.
Please remember that there is approximately a 10-20-second delay between Socialive and the Teams Meeting.
