Socialive is the fastest and most cost-effective way for anyone to record, edit, publish, and livestream professional videos at scale.
The Editor is the interface where Admins, Broadcasters, and Creators can take recorded content from Studio or the Recording Booth and edit it. Creating a single high-quality video with an intro, outro, branding, nametags, and logos is easy and quick with the Socialive Editor.
This article will provide an overview of the following.
Presets
Admins can create presets within a Space. These presets act as templates, making video editing seamless and setting the stage for automation.
Presets are space-specific and will enable all videos to start the editing workflow with the same intro, outro, and branding elements automatically added. To learn more about creating and working with presets within a Space, review Creating a Preset in the Socialive Editor.
Accessing the Socialive Editor
Admins, Broadcasters, and Creators can access the Editor from the Recordings Library.
Session Library
From the session library, select the recording to be edited - this can be a video from a Studio recording, an individual ISO, or a video uploaded to the library (including screen share videos)
Click Send to Editor. If a preset has been applied to the Space where the recorded content is saved, you will have the option to open using the preset or without.
Recording Booth
From the recording booth library, locate the recording to be edited.
Click Send to Editor. If a preset has been applied to the Space where the recorded content is saved, you will have the option to open using the preset or without.
Navigating the Socialive Editor
An overview of the features available in the Socialive Editor.
Top Navigation Bar
Recording title - Update the video's title. To the left of the title, the space where the video will be saved is listed.
Preview your video - View the length of the complete video and play a preview. While previewing, you can retitle the video, continue editing, or save to the library.
Save to library - This saves the created video to the recordings session library. Although you can preview or watch the video in your browser, you do not need to. When your video has been created, you will receive an email confirmation with a direct link to the finished video.
Main Editor
Storyboard - From the carousel, you can view the order of your content and add or update the intro and outro. Scenes within the storyboard can be duplicated, renamed, or deleted.
Add - Clicking + allows you to select from Media and Recordings previously uploaded to the Space to include as an intro or outro. To replace an intro or outro, navigate to the sources tab in the left panel.
Preview panel - In the Preview panel, view each piece within the video, reposition or resize the overlay elements, edit the nametag, or playback the video.
Preview - Play the entire preview source or a selected area.
Sound - Mute or unmute the video playbacks while editing.
Timeline - Clip video content and jump to specific areas of the video for playback. Timelines only show for video content, they will not display for any scenes that only include an image. Note, that any editing done with the timeline will automatically be reflected in the text-based editing panel on the left if it is open.
The waveform and the word ribbon support clipping precision using the audio. These elements may take time to load. The preview line can also be used to view portions of the clip.
Remove - Skip a selected portion of the timeline. Removed segments will not be shown in the final video, but they will remain in the original.
Create clip - Drag and drop the handles to set the start and end times. Playback and the final video will include any video portions inside the handles. The position of the handles can be updated at any time. Playback will automatically skip the video portions outside the handles, but the content outside is not lost.
Split - Cut the timeline into several parts, this can be useful for creating multiple videos from one piece of recorded content.
Heal - Connect two portions of the video that have been split or if a piece in between was removed.
Zoom - Zoom in or out of your timeline for precise editing.
Seeking - Jumps to the very beginning or end of the video.
Anchoring - Jumps to the beginning/end of the clip region.

Media can be uploaded or selected from existing space recordings for each storyboard piece. Media can include video content or images. When opening the Editor, the video used to enter the Editor is automatically loaded as media in this area. Once you have all other elements set up, you can use this capability to create multiple videos in one sitting.

Overlay
Media can be uploaded as logo overlays, intro, and outro. The overlay tab allows Creators to upload one overlay video composition. This overlay is then available for each scene. There is the option to show/hide the overlay in each scene, but there is only one overlay per video composition.
Text editor
The text editor allows the editing of videos using the transcript and timeline in parallel. This area quickly removes unneeded pauses or sections of the recorded video. Any items clipped from the video are not permanently deleted - clips can be quickly restored.
Branding
Background colors and nametags can be updated in this area. Include onscreen talent information using nametags, these can be enabled or turned off - whether or not they were included in the original recording.
If you are editing recording booth content, the name of the invited user will be included but can be updated or hidden as needed. Base color, accent color, style, positioning, and font can also be updated in this area. You can also access these settings by clicking on the nametag in the preview area, where you can reposition the nametag by dragging it.
