Capture Device Recordings with the Record Internally Functionality (Android)

The Record Internally option in the Socialive Android app allows you to record great video content from anywhere in the world, at any time, which automatically uploads to the Socialive library.

This article serves as a guide to recording videos internally with the Socialive Android app.

Prerequisites

Before you start, you need to install the Socialive Android app on your device. Once you have the app installed, turn on Do Not Disturb, turn off Portrait Lock, and close other apps running in the background. This allows you to focus on recording with no distractions and ensures a smooth experience within the app.

Process

  1. Open the Socialive app and log in to your Socialive account.
  2. Tap on the Record tab at the bottom of the screen.
  3. At the top, tap the drop-down to select the channel where you want to record.

  4. Next, add a title and description to the recording.

  5. Prepare to record:

    1. Prop your device at eye level using a phone stand or tripod.

    2. Decide whether to use the front or back camera of the device. Tap the switch camera button to change between cameras.

    3. Position yourself in the center of the frame.

  6. When you are ready, tap record. The recording will start immediately.

  7. When you are done, tap stop recording.

  8. At the top-right corner of the screen, you'll see an "# in progress" status. Tap the text to open the Uploads screen.

  9. In the Uploads screen, keep the app open on this page until the recordings upload to the Socialive library. Once the status is "complete," you can close the app. (If you do need to leave the app for something urgent, please come back and leave the app open until the video fully uploads.)

Best Practices

  • Center yourself within the camera frame

  • If you are using selfie mode, position the camera to capture your head, shoulders, and the top of your torso.

  • Position your device on a stable surface to avoid shaky video

  • Avoid covering the device camera lens with your finger while filming

  • Subjects should project and enunciate clearly when speaking

  • Start your recording and take a breath before you begin speaking on camera

  • End your recording after you have finished speaking completely

  • Avoid subjects being backlit
