What Is an Event Passcode?
For every event that you wish to add live interactivity, you would ideally create a corresponding Pigeonhole. Each Pigeonhole requires a unique passcode, which attendees will enter to access the Pigeonhole. When Pigeonhole Live is embedded within your website, another event platform or a full URL is shared, the passcode is not required as it’s already included.
What Is a Session ID?
When you use Pigeonhole Live and create interactive sessions, a unique ID is assigned. This session ID is typically used in embeds or integrations into various platforms. There are many session types – Q&A, poll, chat, survey. Every one of these has a session ID.
How Do I Use Both Chat and Polls for an Event or a Presentation?
You can add any number of sessions, and mix and match them according to what works best with your content. You have to choose a session type (typically a chat or Q&A session) as the primary interactive type, then nest the rest within the parent session. The nested sessions will then appear within the parent session’s attendee view. You can hide and unhide the nested sessions at will, allowing you to control when attendees can access and participate in those activities.
What Data Is Available as Analytics Post-event?
We provide full session-level reporting in PDF and Excel. Actual data depends on the session types. If attendees are identified, their profile information is also included in the Excel report. If you integrate your registration or authenticated site with our embed widget, then attendees don’t have to sign in separately on Pigeonhole. If you provide us with your unique attendee ID as part of the integration, then you will also have this unique identifier to match with data from your CRM or marketing software.
How Do I Set Up My Event, and Test My Setup Ahead of the Event?
We recommend when setting up a Pigeonhole, to set the date and times based on your actual event. Even if your event is in the future, you can make use of our Test Mode feature to make everything available for you to test now. This includes the speaker and moderator workflows, as well as on the production side. When you turn off Test Mode, all test data gets removed. This way, your event data is only from the actual attendee engagement.
How Do I Allow Backend Moderators Access to Only One Specific Session?
By default, our generic access for event collaborators includes all sessions. If you have reasons to limit a backend moderator to only one session in your Pigeonhole event, you’ll have to make use of our API to generate a session-restricted link. This may require some support from a developer that knows how to make calls to a RESTful API. Depending on which platform you use, this function may also be built-in as part of the integration.
What Is the Moderator Panel For?
Often confused with our Admin Panel, the Moderator Panel is designed for on-stage or on-camera speakers and panel discussion moderators, to easily view allowed questions on an iPad, to then select and choose questions to answer live.
I Have Many Sessions to Create, Over a Hundred, as Part of My Event. Is There an Import Mechanism?
There, unfortunately, isn’t. However, there are some options you can consider:
- Duplicating sessions will save you time recreating sessions with the same settings but with a different name and time.
- You can use our API to programmatically create sessions.
- We provide, on a case-by-case basis, an Excel import mechanism that allows creating Q&A and Chat sessions. There are additional costs, and the work required only makes sense if there are many sessions to be created of the same setup.
I Am Passing Attendee Profile Information, but I’m Still Appearing as Anonymous in the Embedded Pigeonhole Live Widget.
If you’re passing in attendee profile information as part of your embed, you’ll need to enable a few options in order for this to work. In addition, if you are doing testing across multiple profiles, this can create unintended issues. To resolve this, you may have to clear your cookies.
Enable this option:
- Pigeonhole → More settings → Attendees → Profile information → Enable “Allow creating attendee profiles through embed"
I Get an Error “Invalid Attendee Code” When Embedding Pigeonhole Live on My Site.
If you’re passing in attendee information, but also looking to use a unique attendee identifier, then you need to also enable Registrant Profiles:
- Pigeonhole → More settings → Enable “Registrant profiles”
Once you've enabled Registrant Profiles, enable the option to create new registrant profiles through the embed:
- Pigeonhole → More settings → Registrant profiles → Settings (Dropdown menu beside “Add a Registrant” → Enable “Allow creating new registrant profiles through embed”
How Do I Prevent Attendees From Changing Their Profile Details That I Pass To Your Embed?
First, you need to make use of our registrant profiles as part of signing in attendees. Within Registrant profile Settings, there is an option to determine whether attendees can edit their profile.
If you have attendee SSO enabled, their name and email are also automatically locked down and cannot be edited.
