When you're on a video call on the MacOS Sonoma update using an Apple Silicon Mac, iPhone, or iPad, you can trigger on-screen effects like hearts, balloons, confetti, and fireworks. These effects then display on any video display. Since Socialive also uses your video camera, these reactions will appear in Socialive recordings and livestreams. These automatic reactions are default turned on and are available when using the built-in camera or a plugged-in camera.
As this update impacts the visual graphics/dynamics of your recordings, this article provides information on how to disable reactions on your Apple devices.
Apple Silicon Mac (MacOS Sonoma)
Start a FaceTime call
Click on the FaceTime settings pane at the top right
Under camera settings, click Studio Display Camera
Then, disable Reactions
iPhone or iPad (iOS 17)
Launch the FaceTime app
Swipe down from the top right corner
Select the video effects option at the top
Then, disable Reactions
