Livestreaming to YouTube

YouTube Live Streaming lets you engage with your audience in real-time with a video feed, chat, and more. There are three ways to stream to YouTube, and one of them is using a streaming platform such as Socialive. This article will go over the steps to livestream your session from Socialive to your YouTube account.

Process

  1. Go to YouTube Studio.
  2. From the top-right, click Go Live to open the Live Control Room.
  3. On the Manage tab, at the top-right, click Schedule Stream.
  4. In the pop-up that appears, enter the information of your stream.
  5. On the next page, under Stream Settings:
    1. Make sure you selected the "Default stream key (RTMP, Variable) option from the drop-down, and copy the Stream Key.

    2. Under Additional Settings, toggle Enable Auto-start. Enabling this will automatically start the stream when you start sending data from Socialive.
    3. Under Additional Settings, toggle Enable Auto-stop. Enabling this will automatically stop the stream when you stop sending data from Socialive.
  6. In Socialive, under the Livestream tab, click the YouTube logo.
  7. In the pop-up that appears, click Add RTMP. You can also edit or delete an existing RTMP connection. For more information, click here.
  8. Next, enter the following information for your RTMP account:
    1. Label - By default, this is named "Youtube," but you might want to add something that differentiates the account from others.
    2. Server URL - The default Server URL is already entered in the field. You do not need to change this.
    3. Stream Key - Paste the Stream Key you copied from YouTube Studio.
  9. Click Save. You can now stream to YouTube from Socialive.
  10. Set up your session with a start card at the beginning. Once you are ready, click Start.
  11. In the YouTube Live Control Room, it may take a few seconds, your session will go live as soon as it receives the data from Socialive.

  12. To end the stream, click End Stream at the top right in the Live Control Room, and then click End in Socialive.
